Bitesize Prediction: Cagliari vs Lazio – 10/02/24

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/9 @

In what could prove to be an enjoyable affair from the Stadio Unipol Domus on Saturday afternoon, Lazio will make the trip to Cagliari.

Starting with the hosts, although Cagliari might have made their Serie A return this season, Claudio Ranieri s side face a real battle to keep hold of their top-flight status. Last seen putting in another worrying display as they slumped to a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Roma, the former Leicester boss has seen his struggling squad lose all of their previous three Serie A appearances by an aggregate score of 9-2. With their glaring issues underlined by a 3-1 defeat against Frosinone on January 21st, the Islanders are tipped as a leading relegation contender in 2024. Opening Saturday’s showdow…

Di Francesco pens Sassuolo extension

Eusebio Di Francesco has extended his contract with Serie A side Sassuolo until June 2017.

Di Francesco took over as head coach at the Citta del Tricolore in June 2012 and guided the club to promotion from the second tier in his first season in charge.

The 45-year-old was dimissed from his position in January 2014, only to be re-appointed two months later.

Upon his return Di Francesco successfully guided Sassuolo to safety in Serie A.

Sassuolo have secured a mid-table position in the top flight this term and Di Francesco has been linked with both Milan and Fiorentina in recent months.

However, he has ended that speculation by extending his stay with Sassuolo.

Arsenal set for Wanyama move

Arsenal are set to make a move for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama as their injury crisis worsens,.

The Gunners have previously been linked with a move for the Kenya international but are ready to step up their interest when the transfer window reopens next month.

Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla are among those currently unavailable to Arsene Wenger who’s side are currently second favourites to win the Premier League.

Wanyama moved to St. Mary’s Stadium in the summer of 2013, and has so far racked up seventy-nine appearances for the South Coast club in all competitions, scoring three goals while he also has thirty-five caps for his country for whom he also has scored three times.

Prediction: Hellas Verona vs Napoli

Verdict: Hellas Verona to win yes

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

Hellas Verona are fighting for a UEFA Europa League berth ahead of the 2020-21 season, but Napoli are pursuing the same goal. These two European hopefuls will collide Tuesday in a thrilling matchup, where a win could end up being massive. Kick-off for this contest has been announced for 18:30 GMT.

Hellas Verona

Verona have undoubtedly been one of the biggest surprises in any of the Top 5 leagues this season, as they find themselves battling for a UEFA Europa League spot deep in the 2019-20 Serie A season following just one defeat in their last 10 league contests (W5, D4, L1). They also enter this matchup on a strong run of form with four consecutive wins at Stadio Marc Antonio Bentegodi and an e…

Athletic Bilbao 0-1 Real Madrid: VAR Hands La Liga Leaders Another Dubious Win

Athletic Bilbao welcomed Real Madrid to their stadium of San Mames on Sunday afternoon, in what was the 34th match of the 2019/20 La Liga season for both teams.

Bilbao entered the game from eight place with 48 points, with no real chance of reaching top four by the end but with a quite reasonable chance of securing one of the two Europa League spots. Meanwhile, Real Madrid were looking to extend their lead at the top to seven points, at least until Barcelona visited Villarreal that evening.

Porto and Sporting win final games in Portugal

(GSM) Both FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon ended their season on a high with away wins at Uniao de Leiria and Leixoes respectively.

Porto were already certain of finishing in third place and an opening goal from Leiria s Cassio in the 23rd minute did little to bother the 2009 champions.

But the visitors improved in the last half hour, mostly under Colombian influence. Defender Fredy Guarin levelled on the hour, and Radamel Falcao completed the turn-around three minutes later.

Cristian Rodriguez netted for 1-3 in minute 82 and Falcao set the score to 1-4 four minutes later, scoring from the penalty spot.

Fourth-placed Sporting Lisbon, who join Porto in the Europa League, earned a 1-2 win at Leixoes in their final game.

Determined Atletico earn Simeone´s approval

Diego Simeone hailed the determination of his players after watching his Atletico Madrid side successfully adapt to difficult conditions during their 2-0 victory La Liga at Celta Vigo.

Inclement weather on Sunday, which had initially threatened to force a postponement at Balaidos, caused the playing surface to cut up and swift passing football to become all but impossible.

Atleti though still found a way to grind out a 10th victory from their past 12 outings in La Liga.

Antoine Griezmann and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco scored the second-half goals which broke Celta and Simeone heaped praise on his players perseverance after the match.

We ve gone from low to high in the game. That was our idea. We knew it was going to be a game in which the legs were goin…

San Marino v England: Place in history books beckons for Rooney

The spotlight will be firmly on Wayne Rooney in Serravalle on Saturday, as he bids to become England s all-time record scorer at a time when his star quality is under close scrutiny.

Rooney sits one behind Bobby Charlton s milestone haul of 49 goals, but his form against this weekend s opponents San Marino suggests he has every chance of making history in the Euro 2016 qualifier, even if he has started the season in slugging fashion.

The Manchester United striker has netted in all three of his previous appearances against San Marino, four goals in total following a brace back in 2012.

Roy Hodgson s men are expected to win comfortably – a result that will secure qualification to next year s showpiece in France – given that England have triumphed 5-0…

Real Sociedad 1 Barcelona 2: Suarez and Dembele maintain perfect start

Barcelona maintained their 100 per cent start to the season as they came from behind to beat Real Sociedad 2-1 at Anoeta on Saturday.

Their perfect start to the LaLiga campaign looked in danger of coming to a crashing halt as Aritz Elustondo s fine finish early on gave the hosts the lead.

Sociedad squandered three glorious opportunities on the break in quick succession just before the hour to put the game out of sight, profligacy that was duly punished by the ruthless visitors.

Luis Suarez was quickest to react to a loose ball from a goalmouth scramble to level in the 63rd minute before Ousmane Dembele s low effort took two deflections on its way into the net to secure maximum points for the Catalan side just three minutes later.

Sociedad had s…
